The Okura Prestige Bangkok: Celebrating Thanksgiving Day

Up & Above restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok embraces the centuries-old tradition of Thanksgiving with special celebration buffet lunch on Thursday 26 November 2015 that will appeal to local and international residents in the city.

The buffet lunch features traditional roasted turkey and other popular Thanksgiving Day dishes and trimmings as well as an extensive selection of Asian and Western favourites.

ThanksgivingThanksgiving Day is rooted deeply in English tradition and was introduced to the north American continent by the Pilgrim Fathers in the early 17th century. Thanksgiving Day was declared a national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and is now celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November following federal legislation supported by President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1941.

In Canada, Thanksgiving Day falls on the second Monday in October. Historically, it’s the day when thanks are given for the yield of the preceding harvest and is known by other names throughout the world – including the Mid-Autumn festival in China. Harvest is derived from the old English word ‘haerfest’ meaning Autumn.

This celebration buffet lunch, Baht 1,300++ per person and there’s an option of brunch with continuous flow selected wines, local beers and soft drinks for Baht 2,300++, begins at noon until 2:30 pm.
