Our talented pastry chefs start the New Year with a celebration of Tsubaki or Japanese camellias. Tsubaki is in full bloom at this time of the year in Japan. It is a symbol of perfection and love. There is a lovely phrase for describing the red Camellia, “You are a flame in my heart”. Floral flavours delight the senses with delicate notes in a selection of herbal infusions and teas.
At Up & Above Bar guests can indulge in sweet delights that include seasonal Daifuku, Tsubaki macarons, Tsubaki tea cake, rhubarb crumble tart, almond crunchy chocolate truffle, cream roll, and blackcurrant montblanc. Also available are scones with artisan clotted cream, jams and preserves. Savoury treats include ricotta tartine, avocado, smoked salmon and lemon zest, marinated prawns with tomato and orange jelly, mini brioche with duck rillettes and cranberry, and smoked eggplant, sun-dried tomato and basil on rye. All make the perfect companion to a cup of freshly brewed premium Mariage Frères tea and Saro teas or rich illy coffee. It is also paired beautifully with a glass of Sake or chilled Champagne or Prosecco.
Tsubaki Camellia Blossoms Afternoon Tea is available daily from 1 January – 31 March 2018, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Up & Above Bar. Priced at Baht 1,190++ inclusive of premium coffee or tea for 2 persons; Baht 1,690++ with Sake (250 ml) or with 2 glasses of Prosecco; Baht 2,750++ with 2 glasses of Champagne.
